Latest to lineup with most 5-Star rated models in the U.S.
DETROIT – The 2015 Chevrolet #Trax small #SUV has received the highest possible 5-star Overall Vehicle Score for
safety as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s New Car Assessment Program. The rating was given to both front- and all-wheel drive models.
The award further cements #Chevrolet’s lead in 5-Star rated 2015
vehicles, having more models in its lineup than any brand sold in the
U.S. It also puts the Trax among the safest in the quickly expanding
small SUV segment, which is expected to grow more than 80 percent in the
next few years.
“The Trax is the perfect example of Chevrolet’s commitment to putting
state-of-the-art technology and class-leading safety features where it
matters most for the customer,” said Brian Sweeney, U.S. vice president,
Chevrolet.
The Trax’s body structure forms a protective cage around the
passenger compartment, with 66 percent of it composed of high-strength
steels – including ultra-high-strength steel in strategic areas. The
Trax features 10 air bags standard and a standard rearview camera. Rear
park assist is available.
The NCAP evaluations include front, side and rollover testing. Trax
also received a 5-star score on a side pole impact test, which simulates
hitting a tree just behind the driver’s side A-pillar at 20 mph.
The all-new Trax started arriving at Chevrolet dealerships in December.
